Like so many others living in these ultra-modern times, I have a split personality. Since 1997, my day job has been journalist/writer, covering travel, lifestyle, health, and environmental issues for print and online publications in the USA, Britain, Canada and Mexico. On my off hours I write funny stories, mostly to entertain friends and family. Occasionally I’ll share them on my blog along with my bad poetry and almost-clever short stories. I’m also working on a book, which I will finish one day if I can stop being distracted by Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Recently I've added art to the mix. I'm studying sculpture at Concordia University. 'Cause you can never have too many careers that make no money!
But back to professional me …
My latest gig is writing features for Women of Influence Magazine. I'm also doing some social media for Lutema RC Toys (fun!) and blogging for MI Technologies. Past work has included contributing to the Best Buy website for three years and 10 years of writing travel and environmental features for Postmedia News Wire. I also worked as a news editor for Wooden Horse Publishing, blogged for USA Today's 10 Best.com, was the Canadian Regional Manager for NileGuide.com and the Web Editor for Reader's Digest Canada.
From 2007 until 2009, I was a Senior Web Editor for Green Living Online and was a key player in building that website from the ground up. As a journalist in Mexico, I wrote for the Miami Herald and Yahoo Travel. I also contributed to 12 travel guides for Fodor's Travel Guides, Cancun, Cozumel and the Yucatan editions.
I love travel and have come to know and love Quebec, Northeastern USA, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Cuba, Belize and Ireland. My favourite topics include: green tech, health and cultural trends as well as visual arts.
